We do not offer guided tours at fixed times; instead, they can be booked on an individual basis. To make a request, simply fill out the “Ysselsteyn Youth Center: Reservation & Booking” form in its entirety, and we will get back to you right away.

No, invoices for guided tours, day programs, and stays at the youth education center are issued after your visit. We will send you an invoice via email, which must be paid within 14 days.
Guided tours can also be paid for in cash on site during office hours. Unfortunately, payments by debit or credit card are not accepted.

In principle, stays can be booked at any time, even on short notice—provided we have availability. However, there are periods of high demand, such as May, June, July, and September/October, so it’s always advisable to inquire about and reserve your visit well in advance.

The same rule applies here: it’s best to do this as early as possible—but no later than four weeks before arrival. You’re welcome to send your response by email or mail.

For overnight stays, we generally ask that you make your reservation well in advance to ensure that we have enough available rooms on your desired dates. Advance registration is also required for day programs and guided tours.

You can rent bed linens and towels from us for a fee. You are welcome to bring your own bed linens and towels. For hygiene reasons, the use of sleeping bags is not permitted.

We do not provide toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel, and soap, so please be sure to pack them in your luggage. Since our facility is located in a rural area, we recommend that you bring mosquito repellent during the summer months.

At the youth education center we offer three main meals: breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Alternatively, a barbecue can be booked for lunch or dinner.

On weekends, our guests can use the kitchen in the JBS main building for self-catering for a fee. If you would like us to serve meals on Saturday or Sunday, this requires special arrangements.

In addition to our standard meals, we also offer a vegetarian option or a pork-free option upon request; however, we cannot accommodate specific religious dietary requirements (halal, kosher).

We take allergies into account to the extent that our caterer is able to accommodate them. However, it cannot be ruled out that dishes and products that do not contain any allergy warnings may still contain traces of allergens. Guests with severe allergies may bring their own food, which can be stored in a refrigerator. Consumption of these products is then at the guest’s own risk.

All information regarding meals must be specified on the reservation contract so that we are informed of dietary restrictions and allergies at least four weeks before your arrival and can make the necessary arrangements.

Brasserie Ysselsteyn at the visitor center is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and offers drinks and à la carte meals. In the village of Ysselsteyn, there is a supermarket and a snack bar. Additional shopping options are available in the towns of Venray (10.5 km) and Deurne (10 km).

For door-to-door transportation, booking a coach is the best option. Alternatively, you can travel by train to Deurne or Venray, but you’ll need another mode of transportation from there. The regional public transit system stops outside the village of Ysselsteyn; from there, it’s a 5-kilometer walk to the youth education center. We’d be happy to arrange for a coach to pick up your group at the train station and take you to the youth education center. For excursions, we can also check with a local coach company, which will be happy to provide you with affordable quotes.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the Visitor Center and at the youth education center Ysselsteyn.

The lodging facilities must be tidied up and left swept clean by 9:30 a.m. on the day of departure. The group rooms at the youth education center and our recreation area will be available to you for the duration of your stay until your actual departure.

The educational team at the youth education center Ysselsteyn offers historical and political education programs for children and teenagers ages 12 and up. Guided tours for younger children should be arranged in advance.

The program during a stay at the youth education center can be customized. Once your reservation is confirmed, we’ll be happy to work with you to create a program tailored to your group, combining educational activities with recreational ones. You can also organize your own programs and combine them with JBS’s offerings.

Our programs are led by qualified staff members. They serve as points of contact for the participants during the seminar.

Depending on the program, teachers or chaperones have different roles. They may actively participate in the programs, observe and supervise them, or lead excursions on their own, but they remain responsible for supervision throughout the entire stay. For school events, the duty of care and the duty to ensure safety also extend to students who are of legal age.
