Using historical sources, such as documents, photos, letters or diary entries, the pupils work in small groups to investigate biographical aspects of the life stories of war dead who are buried in Ysselsteyn.
Who were these people? What were their choices and scopes of action? What was their attitude towards the war? How are they remembered? The research traces answers to these questions and inspires to ask new ones. After the presentation of their interpretations, the participants discuss what kind of meaning the history of the Second World War still has today.
