Our team, with an educational background in historics and pedogogy, offers educational programmes and projects for groups of young people and adults. The main focus of our educational service lies on programmes with a socio-historical character, that build a bridge between the past and the present with the aim to encourage tolerance, peace and non-violence. The educational meeting centre is located directly next to the German War Cemetery and is managed by the Volksbunds Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V (German War Graves Foundation).
Our work is based on the guidelines of the Volksbund. Our institution does not pursue economic, political or religious goals and acts in a politically neutral way. The educational work is also supported by the “Vrienden van Ysselsteyn” (Friends of Ysselsteyn) Foundation.
Who can visit us?
- School classes and youth groups from all over the world, who are looking for a suitable place for activities, projects or international meetings focused on socio-historical education and the subject of peace and democracy. This is possible as a one-day visit or as part of a stay of several days.
- Visitors with an interest in history (Second World War) or adult education groups who want to visit the War Cemetery and follow an educational programme.
- Individual travellers or tourists who want to stay overnight in the region.
Friends of Ysselsteyn Foundation
The Friends of Ysselsteyn Foundation was established to advise and financially support the youth and educational work at the Ysselsteyn War Cemetery.
Many projects have already been realised within this context, including the construction of the visitor centre, which will be opened in 2021. If you consider the (educational) work on the War Cemetery Ysselsteyn important, we warmly invite you to become a member of the Friends of Ysselsteyn! For an annual fee of € 50 we will keep you informed about the activities in the educational group accommodation, the visitor centre and the Ysselsteyn War Cemetery. You will also profit from other advantages, such as networking opportunities during the annual members’ meeting or a guided tour at the War Cemetery for you and your group (up to a maximum of 25 people).
